THROWBACK THURSDAY: JOSH KALIS IN THE DC VIDEO

July 19,2017

Today, we’re throwin’ it back to 2003 when we shot some epic DC video parts with DC team rider, Josh Kalis. We decided to catch up with Kalis, and throw a few TBT questions his way to hear more about what he loves about skateboarding and what some of his best memories are from filming with us in 2003.

DC: Hey Josh – great to catch up, tell us a bit about how you got started skating and what has kept you going?

Kalis: I started for fun. I saw a kid riding a skateboard in the 6th grade and then cut grass all summer to save up for my own. Since that day, I’ve skated virtually every day possible – so not it is literally a part of my life.

DC: That’s awesome – you must have had to cut a lot of grass to get that board! Let’s talk about filming the DC Video in 2003, what are some of your favorite memories from that experience?

Kalis: Probably the Miami trips. We had a lot of fun getting the squad together and going to Miami.

DC: Sounds like there are a lot of stories there – are there any parts from that video that at the time were really hard, but loking back now they’re a piece of cake?

Kalis: Looking back it’s all still pretty hard. Some are actually impossible as the spots are completely gone now (laughs) Landmarks…just gone.

DC: Yeah, that’s crazy. Speaking of changes – how has the skate scene in Philly changed since 2003?

Kalis: Lost of new faces there for sure!! Still super rad scene though.
